Jack Daniel's Gets Hands On!
Friends and employees of Jack Daniel's joined Hands On Nashville for a day of clean up and rebuilding on Saturday, July 10. More than 150 friends of Jack and employees donated time to rebuild four flood-damaged homes in Nashville, as well as to clean up trash and debris deposited from May's flash flooding along the banks of Mill Creek. A Lesson from Jack Daniel
Although Jack Daniel was admired by folks everywhere, he did have one fault – Jack was a fellow with a temper. Jack's nephew Lem Motlow was usually the first person to arrive at the Distillery and open the safe for the day, but it seems that Jack got to the Distillery before Lem one morning and wanted to get in the big safe. When Jack couldn't remember the combination, he gave the safe a big kick, injuring one of his toes. The toe caused him trouble from then on and eventually led to his death six years later.
