Mural unveiling for all four murals will be on July 22nd!

 

Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and the Milwaukee Bucks are launching The Art of Flavor, a mural initiative aimed to pay tribute to the diverse communities of Milwaukee. Former Milwaukee Buck and celebrity artist Desmond Mason, alongside three local artists, have been commissioned to create neighborhood murals and barrel art inspired by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Apple, Tennessee Honey and Tennessee Fire that reflect community pride, culture and experience.

 

Mason joined the program to create a mural that draws inspiration from his time with the Milwaukee Bucks, and that celebrates unity among Milwaukee’s diverse communities. “Being an artist is more than creating beautiful visuals, it’s about telling a story through captivating imagery and ensuring that every color and pattern has the intention to tell that story,” said Mason. “I am pleased to join Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and the 

 

Desmond Mason

A 2001, NBA Slam Dunk Champion and established artist, Desmond Mason transferred his creativity on the court to the canvas after retiring from his NBA career in 2009. His passion for art started at an early age and was carried through his college years where he majored in Studio Art. 


Desmond has been recognized for his philanthropic work receiving the N. Athlete for Peace Award in 2016. Since 2004, he has run the Desmond Mason Art Show, an annual benefit held in various NBA team cities to raise money for nonprofit organizations. In addition to his charitable endeavors, Desmond has proven himself commercially as an artist, too, selling over 250 pieces to collectors around the world.


Most recently, Desmond has dedicated his time to Milwaukee, a city close to his heart having spent four seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks by creating murals and mosaics in the community.
